June-Koo Kevin RHEE ([email protected]) is a professor at KAIST, Korea, since 2005, and a venture entrepreneur of Qunova Computing, Inc. He graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with a Ph.D. (1995), all in electrical engineering. He is currently focused on the development of quantum SW applications for chemistry modeling and AI machine learning in the academy as well as for the industry. He serves as the Vice Chair of Korea Quantum Industry Association since 2022.
In his career, he served in several research and teaching positions in the area of quantum optics, quantum information, and quantum computing since 1995, including work experiences at Princeton University (1995-1996), NEC Research Institute (1996-1998), Corning Inc. (1998-2002), and Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (2003-2005). He has founded and led the KAIST IT Research Center of Quantum Computing for AI between 2018 and 2022.
He registered more than 60 patents rights, and authored or coauthored more than 180 technical journal and conference papers. He is awarded twice the Ministry Certificate of Commendation from the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT.
